Methotextrate made my hair come out in clumps. I am starting the Imuran tomorrow. Fortunately I am off the methotextrate. Good Luck

i've been in Imuran 100mg for about 4 years or more.. and i'm also on the zone.. i have not experience hair lose or anything.. it help things at bay.. i dropped down to 50mg and i am still good..

I've been on Imuran for two years. I'm up to 200mg a day. It takes about 6-8 weeks to get into your system. Its a good drug but it really needs the time to prove its stuff to you. I did have a little hair loss very minor. No balding or patches, nothing like that. Good luck:)

Imuran can cause hair thinning. I seem to remember that it takes longer than 6-8 weeks to begin working, but remember, each of us is different. Good luck.

I, too just started Imuran. I am taking 100m a day along with 10m of prednesone. I didn't know it took that long to start working. Right now, I feel totally wiped out....probably from decreasing the pred.

Angelfox. I feel u on that one.. I feel wiped out too. i am on 10 mg every other day on the zone .. its makes me feel so tired i fall straight to sleep

Tcall what is the zone? I'm wiped out most of the time it seems worse since I started the Imuran. But if it helps its worth it.

I was on prednisone and tried to switch to Imuran...my doctor thought that would be a better choice... but, it wasn't. She kept a close watch on my lab and my liver profile started to go bad. I wish all physicians would keep a close eye on these things...like doing CT's on a regular basis and labs when indicated. I knew that things were going bad when the labs came back but I had noticed dark circles under my eyes. Keep a close watch on what ever plan you follow.
Good luck,

I have been on Imuran 100mg for 2 years, it is prednisone sparing drug, for those that can't tolerate high doses of pred due to other health problems, I have been on low dose pred also with it. I started at 50 then titrated up to 75 then 100mg. my doc wanted to make sure I could tolerate it and he has been watching my labs also. I think I am at a good place right now because I have tapered the pred down from 30mg a day to 5mg a day and take the Imuran 100mg a day with it, and so far it is keeping the sarc at bay. Good Luck! Oh, my doc gave me Zofran 4mg a day to take for nausea 30 minutes before I take the Imuran and it helps. They all come in generic, too. which helps on $$.

Thanks for all your replys.

I'm on 150 mg of Imuran a day now. I started taking it in Sept and started off with 50 mg and increased to 150 mg over a month time period. I felt pretty bad for a few weeks while I was getting used to the Imuran. My main complaint was I was having joint pains, muscle pains etc. I am feeling better now so perhaps my body is used to the Imuran. I'm not sure....My main complaint now is that I'm tired but that is getting better too. My pulm said that it takes about 8 weeks to show any improvement in the sarc if it's going to.

Sarcoidosis and the Body
Sarcoidosis is a "multiorgan" disease - meaning it almost always involves more than one organ. It's unpredictable and affects different people in different ways.
