Finding doctor in Atlanta area

0 Recommendations

I am changing doctors and looking to find a care provider in the Atlanta area. I have symptoms in my lungs and eyes and have also had facial paralysis, numbness, memory issues, arthritis. I have been going to a rheumotogist for the last eight or so years.

I have a neurologist that I like. The only trouble is that he has moved his office up to Johns Creek, near Alpharetta/Duluth. The good thing about this location though is that you're out of the city, with no-hassle, free parking. The office is never crowded and Dr. Cook doesn't rush you through an appointment. He spends as much time with you as you need.

I see a good ophthalmologist at Emory:

Anastasios Costarides
404-778-5416

This office is always overcrowed and overbooked. Plan on spending a half day to get through a one-hour appointment. He's good, but he passes you through 2 or 3 subs before he sees you briefly.

Thanks so much for your reply. That was one of the issues with my old doctor, the appt took half a day.

Morehouse medical college pulmonary division...sees tons of sarcoid patients...has sizable expertise...chair is a young female in her mid 40s and is a national lecturer on the subject. African American Pumonary MDs typically see A LOT of sarcoid because it affects the population they treat (African Americans) disproportionately. Hence, this is the community where alot of the experts in this disease can be found. You are blessed to be in an area where you have a historically black medical school at your disposal (only 4 in the country).

Good morning. God speed with your relocation. My only advice would be to find a good Rheumatologist first and go from there. Best of luck.
PS. Perhaps your current Rheu doc can give you a referral. They network quite a bit. smile

I met with Dr. Gottlieb at Crawford Long on Monday. The visit went well and was very thorough. I am also looking for some natural support. He is a rheumatologist and was able to do quite a bit of testing in his office. Thanks for your suggestion.

I am glad that you had a good visit. It must be a daunting task getting used to a new city and dealing with sarcoids. I am glad my suggestion worked well for you. Take care. Be Blessed and have agreat weekend and holiday.
