Connection between hormones and sarc

0 Recommendations

This is mostly in connection to females with sarc. i believe that there is a bigger connection between estrogen levels and sarc. my dr briefly mentioned it but its not sumthn official i guess. for me i notice this to b pretty true becuz it seems that everytime im at my worst or the 3 times i was hospitalized for flare up i get my monthly cycle. seriously everytime i was there! everytime that comes monthly i feel terrible and my eyes n lungs that have sarc hurt. weird.
has anyone else experienced sumthn similar or have any info? please and thank you.

Sjogren's syndrome

Ingsarc,

It is true there is a hormone connection with disease in women. Women tend to suffer worse with sarc than men do in most cases. There are supposed to be equal numbers of men and women with sarc, but women tend to have worse cases of the illness than men do.

In Sjogren's Syndrome they were trialling testosterone to see if it helped women. I don't know what the result of that trial was.

It's weird you bring this up. I just got "that time of the month" about a week before the inflammation stArted and now I feel aweful. I haven't noticed this much of an extreme before but do now, I was just thinking of this!

I always feel a little flu-ey durin my cycle too.
maybe it's the sarc. Hmmm. Not much to do about it I guess. I sleep a lot more. Good days to all!

Sarcoidosis and the Body
Sarcoidosis is a "multiorgan" disease - meaning it almost always involves more than one organ. It's unpredictable and affects different people in different ways.

You can learn about the ways in which sarcoidosis affects the body in FSR's Sarcoidosis and the Body brochure.
