causes--- i used to smoke?

Okay so, I am only 25- I went through I crazy party animal stage where I would not smoke cigarettes when I was sober- then totally chain smoke when out drinking with buddies. I have completely quit (rest assured!) but, I wonder sometimes if I caused this wretched disease or if it is caused by other things? My Doctors are really vague. I am not on medication though I have all the symptoms of sarc. Oh yeah- I have sarcoid of the lungs... I have had a lymph node removed (while I was awake-- ewwww), and Ive gone through the whole hellish scare of lymphoma...

first of all congrats on not smoking any more, I myself an almost 2 years smokefree, so I know just how hard it is.
I got sick not long after I stopped smoking and have been told there is a slight chance but only slight. I asked my specialists the same thing and they seem to think it is not. But as the cause is unknown, it is hard to say who is right and who is wrong. Sorry I cant help you more, but I do know the uncertainty you are going through with that thought.

unlikely that this was the cause, but it's terrific that you have stopped! congratulations! you don't need the extra toll smoking takes on your lungs and blood vessels.

firstly glad you kicked the habit. I have to admit that I have been a smoker for over a decade, and after been diagnosed with pulmonary sarcoid 5 years ago, yeah I thought the weed had caught up with me pretty quickly, I was of the opinion, some can smoke , some can't, well nobody can enjoy a completely healthy life as a smoker, but I still do it, I have been in remission or cleared up from Sarc for 2 years, I have never read smoke causes it, or helps it, or hampers it, the jury is still out on that one. personally I don't think it has anything to do with it, but being a smoker doesn't help with clear diagnosis, particularly in my case as a asthmatic, doctors will always weight their diagnosis on that side and tut tut the smoking and why not it is proven not to be the best thing to imbibe. Sarcoidosis has no known reason for being there, that is what befuddles them all. the sooner we find out why, the sooner we will be able to find out how to cure it. I haven't taken any meds for sarcoid either hopefully it will burn itself out for you.

Be well

Oddly - I read in one of the Sarc websites that statistics show that this pulmonary disease affects more non-smokers than smokers. To qualify this however - it didn't say if these non-smokers smoked in the past.

FYI
BJ (oh yeah - BJ2....I've been changed!)
