linear scleraderma- scarring

0 Recommendations

I have scarring the side (temple area) and around to the back of my scalp. I have worn a hairpiece for 25+ years. I had a procedure 3 years ago called scar reduction where they remove some of the scarred area (back of head) and bring the two sides together. At the same time the Dr. injected my own fat into the temple area trying to fill in the indentation left from the scarring. The back of my scalp took quite a while to heal and at first looked great and seemed to work. But not long after the skin streched back to the original size to was before surgery. The same with the fat transfer, at first it looked great and then slowly it went back to the way it was before. I then tried juivaderm(sp?)and I didn't like that at all. Thankfully it only lasts a few months because after that I developed a terrible allergic reaction to all kinds of metals and lotions, etc. I could no longer wear my wedding rings, use any of the shampoos, lotions, etc. that I had always used. After about two years of that its finally calmed down to where I am again able to wear jewelery and use my own lotions, makeup, etc. Has anyone else experienced anything like this, but more importantly, does anyone know of anything that can be done about this. The latest thing I've heard about is a special laser to lighten the area and hyaluronic acid to help fill it in.I heard about this on a lupus web site (my 21 year old daughter has lupus) but nothing on the scleraderm one. Also I am looking for a good dr. (n.j. or NY) that knows something about the scarring, just about everyone I've seen always tells me, they don't know much about it,I'm the first patient to see them about this--I really don't want to try anything new again, I feel like I've been a guienna pig for a while.
