Try taking either Claritin or Benadryl. And use hordrocordisone cream on the really itchy spots.
Try cetaphil lotion it works great for dry itching skin.
If you find anything that helps please let me know. I have recently been diagnosed with the disease and so far the rash and itchy skin is my only symptom. I have spent a fortune on creams, prescriptions. etc. The only relief I have found is Oatmeal baths.
Boy can I ever relate to this one!!! I have had a real problem with this recently and have found that the over the counter version of Bactine works really well. I was scratching myself silly, to the point that I was breaking the skin and leaving lesions, open wounds. the Bactine has a numbing power to it plus a germ fighter....which with my compomised immune system was a blessing.
My husband would put the bactine on me, let it dry a few minutes and then use a good coating of Vasoline Intensive Care lotion on top of that to seal it in. It works like a charm.
the other thing I like to do is take baths with a body oil in the water, something like Nutrageana body Oil, it is a sesame seed based oil and has a pleasant scent, not flowery at all. Then pat dry the skin when you get out so as to not wipe all the oil off and get dressed, the oil is non staining too, so no worries about ruining your clothing or bedding.
Good luck finding what works for you! I origninally got a perscription from my doc for a lotion that starts with a T, but can't remember the spelling but it did nothing.
I probably have nothing new, but my morphea is extensive, and goes from dry scaly to open raw spots that burn when ANYTHING, even water, is put on. I have tried (under doc's direction) many prescription things such as Dovone &, several different steroid creams, as well vaseline, aquaphor (kind of an expensive fancier vaseline type ointment), Eucerin calming creme, some kind of Eucerin in a jar (and the wal-mart version equate works just as well and less than half the price!), and one of my favorites is Aveeno dry skin cream. there are two stand up tubes, different colors, one has no fragrance and I prefer that. Vitamin e oil helps on cracked spots, but a total pure jar of 100% shea butter (bought at better health stores) is the best. It seemed crumbly when I first got the jar, but you rub between palms, warming in slightly with body heat and little friction, and it is very soothing. Apply to damp skin after shower or bath to hold in some moisture. Good luck!
For severe itching, nothing worked as well as SARNA lotion. Sold OTC, steroid free. It has mentol and camphor in it and really helped me. My Dr. precribed compounded lotions and Benadryl. This worked best! Good Luck.
