rotator cuff tear and tendonitis

0 Recommendations

I am suffering of terrible shoulder pain that it is getting
worst at night and in the morning.I was diagnosed with rotator cuff tear .
I would like to know if anybody else has this condition and if it is connected with Scleroderma.
Do you know of any kind of treatment that would help this condition?

I am so sorry...shoulder pain is AWFUL....and it's amazing how much of our movements are connected to the shoulder. Are you able to move your shoulder at all?

I can move my right hand much better then my left hand.
My left hand I can move only just above the level of my shoulder and I can't turned it toward the back .
At night it hurts just turning around in bed and in the morning it hurts even if I don't move at all.
The prednisone took care of this pain for more then a year but now that I am of this" wonderful "poison it hurts even more.

Thanks for asking,
Adina

hi adina..fortunaltly i have not had that type of pain but since my sd is back flared up and i was in so much pain all over of course they put me on the WONDERFUL poison PREDISON which at 1st was a very high dose of 40 milg but i tell u it stop the pain i am currently taking 15 milg and cant seem to get off this stuff but i am doing well very very low pain and most of the time bo pain at all so if i were u i woulld most def discuss it with ur doctor i have a very low pain tolerence and couldnt take the pain it at all..i wish u best and hope all goes well for you.

Thanks Dani,for your reply.
You are right,it is very hard to live with pain all the time and I had to put in balance the pain with the side effects of this drug. I have a mild osteoporosis and I use to have bad insomnia from it.
Also ,in about a month, I will have to have 4 teeth extractions and I don't want to get an infection caused by a suppressed immune system.
After that ,if I will not be able to find any other way to find some relive for my pain I will start to take a low dose of prednisone again.

OH YES!!! I had this about a decade before the onset of SD.Also had severe neck problems. There is no pain like rotator cuff pain,MAN! I could have had a baby every day of the week and it would be insignificant in comparison.3 months of physiotherapy 5 days a week and 3 years on glucosamine/condroitin/MSM totally fixed it but it sure was a long wait.

I am going to start some physiotherapy soon but because I have this condition for such a long time I am a bit skeptical that it could be fixed just with physiotherapy.
Thanks for giving me some hope !

I've had total of 6 'rotator cuff repairs'... 2 on right and left total of 4 since Aug. of 08.I do have an excellent ortho doc, it is just me not being able to heal right. I've questioned about this being a problem because of sclero., and have not been given an answer... they aren't sure???? Last surgery was 7-20 this year; he said he re-enforced my patch & done extra sewing. Starting to get better, but will have to work it extra on phy.therapy to get good range of motion back (but have to be extra careful so it won't re-tear again. Oh, what 'fun'...Not!!! It is always something going wrong. I'm sick of being sick, but I keep plugging along. Gotta smile & try to keep a good attitude. Whatever comes my way, it is better than "the dirt nap"!! Hang in there!!!

Hi - I would highly recommend that you find a qualified massage therapist. Massage therapy could be a great option for you -- it reduces the pain and increases range of motion. It also helps with circulation and lymph flow and tissue repair which can be a problem for us.

Someone with an NMT or myofascial background should have the qualifications you need. I've been a massage therapist since 03 and I have many clients with autoimmune disorders and they receive a lot of relief.

It is worth a shot -- completely natural pain relief. Hope that helps. I had rib / shoulder pain that was keeping me awake at night. I don't want to go back to the doc right now because I've just been so often lately and I don't want more meds. I did see a massage therapist yesterday and I slept like a baby last night!

Blessings, Kim

Not sure about the "tear" but I do have periodic bouts with shoulder pain and and it is very painful. This just started with me lately, 7 years after diagnosis but my Rheumy said that is typical..connective tissue is very prominent in the shoulder area and with our's not being "plyable" (for lack of a better word) it causes lots of pain.

Actually all of my issues started in March with a frozen shoulder- I had surgery in June for it and it refroze in July- since July I have wound up in the ER - from what they thought was a reaction to the Percocet they had me on- ear trouble, facial numbness, jaw pain- then they diagnosed me with TMJ and a disfunctional estation tube- here I am 3 months later with same problems and now new ones popping up. Labs came out negative for SD -biopsy inconclusive.

I've questioned both of my docs if this was from sclero... no firm answers. I've had 2 R-cuff repairs on rt. shoulder, and 4, yes 4,on my left shoulder just since last Aug of 08. My ortho guy is one of the best in K.C., so it's not his lack of skill. I just don't heal properly. Nothing too strenous that would have made it re-tear... don't know??? He patched the patch & done alot of extra stitchin' this last time; so far, so good! Hope you have better luck than me!! Also have a great rheumatologist.

Sorry guys.... it's went to my brain; I've posted twice!!!
