Need information about situs inversus (situs ambiguous)

0 Recommendations

My son now 20 months was born with situs ambiguous.
His heart is the only organ on the correct side and he also has multiple to massive spleens. He is doing great but his blood labs trouble me..and Dr,s dont give me a reason on what is causing it. His platlet count wil go in the millions then down to the mid 500,000 and back and forth. His RBC use to be low but now are in the HH range. does anyone have an idea of what is causing this? or is this all part of the situs inversus? I dont know anyone else with this condition

My 15 month old granddaughter has adbominal situs inversus, polysplenia, heterotaxy and had malroation of the intestines (Ladds procedure at 5 1/2 weeks to correct). She's anemic and has slow weight gain....we don't know why. She hasn't had problems with her platlet count. Is her spleen functioning? You can email me at ctaylor@lasersonline.org.

I am a 50 year old woman who has situs inversus. It was found on an exray taken when I was 4 years old, I have had numerous test done throughout the years. It has never altered my health in any way. I do think that I might have pcd, but it is not severe. Your daughter will grow up perfectly fine.

Hello, my 10 year old son has situs inversus, dextrocarida/heterotaxia (single ventricle, pulmonary atresia, transpositon of great arteries, asplenia symdrome. (docs keep switching between heterotaxia and dextrocardia) malrotation (Ladd's procedure, had apendix removed as a precaution (it was in the center of abdomen). Heart shunt at 10 days old, 2 other open heart surgeries, will need more. Chronic lung infection. I think he has everything. His HH is high too, it can be related to the multiple spleens, or them not working properly. If you are able to find an answer to your question I would love for you to share it with us. Best wishes

I'm in the same boat I think her blood work is fine even though the doctors want to do some...not sure why yet... she is vomiting all the time...I don't know if it's normal, and can't find answers on how to fix it...very frusterating
