Need a Doctor in Louisiana

1 Recommendation

Hi, I'm in Louisiana, and having to find a new doctor because of insurances changes. My present primary care doc is wonderful. Even though he doesn't know everything about everything, he is very open and willing to do research. Now my unsurance says I have to find another. I've contacted other doctors, and they just say, "I don't know about that, find someone else, I'm too busy." or something to that effect. So I'm wondering if anyone out there knows about a doctor who is willing to learn about rare diseases. Maybe a clinic that specializes in the more unusual illnesses, rather than just the things they see all the time. Preferably in the Baton Rouge area.

Hi Chillin'
My name is Shelly and like you I to live in Louisiana and have bad doctors, so if you can and are willing i'd go to Houston which is were my mom is fixing to take me again, it's as if those of us that have anything different they don't want to see us coming so the only Doctor here that we can recommend is our Internist as she goes the extra mile, but all others we could care less for them just like you.........

Sincerley, yours
Shelly..............................

What specialty of doctor do you need?
I just saw a fellow in Neurology at UNC who has moved to Louisiana.
I think she is in New Orleans.
If you need Neurology her name is Dr. Georgia Lea.
She is very compassionate.

Hi Shelly and thanks for checking on me. I have just started seeing Dr. Hector Mena (Rhuematologist) in Baton Rouge. The first visit he said he didn't want to do any bloodwork until he received my records from Ochsner. After 3 months of both me and Dr Mena's nurse requesting the record and me going over there and signing a form asking them in person to send them, Ochsner still didn't send them. So I went to Dr Mena and told him those tests the other doc had done were not necessary, because she didn't know what she was doing anyway. So let's just start from scratch. So he is running a bunch of blood test, (must be everything he can think of because they took about 6 tubes.) I'm hoping to learn the results this week. He keeps telling me it will be difficult to find the exact diagnosis, but like I told him I have way too many symptoms for them not to be linked, I'm tired of treating each symptom separately when there may possibly be a way to treat everything together. So what's been going on with you?
