my wife, carol is being weaned off the drug prednisone.

carol's at 6mgs. was at 60mgs. starting aug. 08'. she's a class 1, depressent. taking anti-depression and anxiety drugs. they are not working. question--------------------------------------is there any known product she can take to help her adrenal glands to start working. from 6mgs to zero mgs. is very critical, hoping someone out there knows the answer. doctor's haven't a clue----------------------------------thank-you------GMM--------remember -------PREDNISONE is the drug.

Started taking 40mg Prednisone Feb 08 after a muscle biopsy am now down to 15mg. Tried 10mg felt very achy so now the plan is 12.5 and slowly downward. Had depression problems long before Prednisone came into my life. When given the 40mg I shot straight into mania (very uncommon for me) didn't sleep for four days. Had to add additional medication for mania, what a mess. Took months to get everything on an even keel. Seems everytime I drop the Prednisone under 15mg depression sets in. I continue to take anti-depressants I took before Pred.

Not sure what class 1 depressant is, would you mind sharing?

Also interested in the idea of: from 6mg to zero Pred. is critical. Know my Rheum has stressed we will have to drop dosage slowly. But, insists I must stop the Pred due to side effects. While Neuro has said may be necessary to maintain on as low a dosage as possible to be able to be functional (stay out of bed, move around).

My mother had very bad reactions to anti depressants and or sleep medications. I found 5 HTP and it really has helped her mood as well as her sleeping. I just came across it while researching LTrypohan . perhaps you can try it
