I'm sorry to hear about your husbands unfortunate diagnoses. I come from a long line of, what I'll call, melas sufferers. My own worst nightmare came last year when I too was diagnosed with it. I've looked a long time for someone like myself to share information with and of course support. I hope your husband is doing well. definatly live every day to the fullest.

thanks for your reply, is there any medication that could help him he shakes a lot and his balance is very poor, vitamins have been recomended to me but i dont know which ones, ken is the first in the family to be given the diagnosis he is the only diabetic and deaf one in the family, we are seeing a mito specialist in dec i will have lots to ask .

They have put me on coenzyme Q10 . 200mg in the morning and 200mg at night. I just recently started trying creatine monohydrate capsules as well, which helps supply energy to the muscle groups. Since the mitocondria of the cell harbors 90% of the energy supplied to the body, I figure I could use all the help I can get. It has helped termendously. Since starting the creatine I have been able to do more, my attacks are less severe and they don't last as long. Its the stuff body builers take for more energy so they can work out longer. Unfortunately its not so good for the kidnies though, so stick to the weight requirments. When you go and see the mito specialist in December ask a lot of questions, take a paper and pen. You probably won't be happy with the answers you get if you get any at all, its what they call a "morbid diagnoses" but it doesn't mean we have to give up. I know a lot about this disease, I'll try and be as informative as I can to you and your husband. Maybe I can help. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Keep well. My hearing is also failing, I have balance issues because of my hearing loss. I'm going for physiothrapy, I find that it has helped a bit. It might be beneficial for your husband as well.

Yours trully
Rmarrie
