My son who is 28 yrs old and has ALD has been trying to get a medical card for acouple years. He also is trying to get on SSI. He was denied 4 times. We have hired a lawyer, but it is still taking a long time. He was just denied a medical card again and he needs to see a neuroligist and needs to have tests done for his bladder and his prostate. I have been trying to get some help or should I say alot of help for years. Everyone says they can't understand why he doesn't have a medical card but no one can help. I can't believe, in this country a person who has a terminal and debilitating illness cannot get medical coverage.

I was told by someone to contact my senator or representative, explain the problems, and ask them to intervene on my son's behalf. It worked; one letter and several phone calls by the representative and 'suddenly' my son was approved for S.S.I. You might try it, especially during this election year. Good luck.
