Mastocytosis and H1N1 vaccine

0 Recommendations

Well as is goes I went this morning with my husband to get the H1N1 vaccine. I got my shot at 10 am this morning and it is now 2:30 pm ...so far I am crossing my fingers for no reaction. I just want to put this out there for other who may be concerned with getting this shot. I will let you all know how it goes, so that you can make your choice on whether to get one or not. I know there are concerns with getting this shot and having Mastocytosis as we do react to all kinds of things and at a more severe level. Let me know what your thoughts are and I will keep you updated on how this goes..

Leukemia Mastocytosis

Hello Cocoapuff, I got my H1N1 vaccination last Saturday after standing in line for three and a half hours. My allergist said that I should get the shot with no preservatives. I've had no reaction that I can notice. I got the seasonal flu shot about a month ago and had a minor attack that night. That shot had the preservative. Makes one wonder if I can tolerate the preservative. Has anyone else had the H1N1, and have you had any reaction at all? My best to all. Dale

I have aggressive Systemic Mastocytosis & also Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia & I had both the regular flu shot and the H1N1 shot about a week apart. I had no reaction that I could tell. My Oncologist was adamant about me getting both shots. Each of us are so different in what we tolerate that it is so hard to predict anything but if this help someone decide, I hope it works for you. Sometimes our everyday symptoms are the same as the flu & it is hard to tell the difference. We have requirements at work now that if we have certain symptoms we are to stay home. Well if I followed that I would never be able to go to work!! And there are some days I can't anyway. Such a guessing game......
Well wishing you more good days than bad. Take care of you.
