my 80 yr old mother was misdiagnosed for 2 months with a stroke. Her weak right leg, arm and slurred speak got worse... another neuro said she didn't have stroke. Admitted to Duke and had all kinds of test... blood. MRI'S. Spinal taps. PET Scan. Bone Scan. Bone Marrow Xrays, etc,,,. nothiing shows up.... then she had a brain biopsy of one of the lesions AND NOTHING SHOWED UP.... THEY DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER. She is getting weaker and now her left side is failing.... just hoping someone has heard of these symptons and can lead me in a direction. She is now on steroids, anti sesure medication..... if anyone can help me. before its tooo late........ thanks

I TOOK CARE OF AN OLDER LADY FOR A WHILE WHO HAD CANCER AND DIABETES. SHE WAS FOUND ON THE FLOOR WITH WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS DIABETIC COMA. SHE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL WITH ONE SIDED PARALYSIS...JUST AS YOU DESCRIBE, WHICH SHE RECOVERED FROM.

THERE IS A CONDITION CALLED BELL'S (MAYBE MISPELLING THE ACTUAL NAME...BUT PRONOUCED "BELL") PALSY. IT SEEMS TO BE MORE VIRAL IN NATURE. I DON'T RECALL IF SHE WAS ON ANY SPECIFIC MEDICATIONS FOR THIS..THIS IS LIKE 14 YEARS AGO.

IT DID IN FACT THOUGH MIMIC ALL THE SYMPTOMS OF STROKE.

IT MAY BE ONE AVENUE TO EXPLORE.
BEST TO YOU AND HOPE THINGS GO WELL.
