Isaacs Syndrome

1 Recommendation

Good Day,

My name is Mike Cox and I am a 40 year old male, diagnosed with Isaac’s almost 10 years ago. I have been experiencing symptoms for nearly 13 years, everything from stiffness to spasms. I have been on Dylantin, Baclophen, and now Tegratol. All of them have helped to some degree, but side effects were hard to deal with. Currently I am taking 800mg of Tegratol a day and doing Fair to Midland, as my mother would say. Unfortunately my youngest son was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis and was one of the 3% to develop Thymoma Cancer from it. Also he has another auto immune problem their calling Autoimmune Enteropathy. To make a long story short, work is difficult with my hands (dropping things left and right) and my strength seems to be dwindling rather quickly. Also the stress our family has been under has been insane. My wife is only working part time, because caring for our son is very time demanding. I am wondering if any one had tried to file for disability or had assistance in some form of job retraining program. I have been a tile contractor for 20 years, but unable to perform that type of work anymore. Is anyone out there having difficulty making ends meat because of Isaac’s? Look forward to hearing from you.

If you live and have worked in the U.S.A. and paid into the Social security fund along with your employer(s), you can on your own or with an attorney, apply for social security disability or SSI. Go to your local Social Security office and start the paper work or better yet call and make an appointment ahead of time and ask what paperwork you will need to bring with you. Make copies for them before you go. If you are denied, appeal. Do not worry about attorney's fees. In an appeal, I am not sure about before the appeal,Social Security picks up the tab, 8unless that has changed. Contact your local U.S. Representative or Senator to update this information and for help. My Rep. was of great help. Best of luck to you. I have Polymyositis, not Isaacs.

Hey Mike,

I have a close friend recently diagnosed with Isaacs. He applied for disability and was immediately approved.

Hello, Do you know what data your friend that has Isaac's need to get approved. I have thought of this recently as I have been having a problem with walking. I keep falling down. Any help would be great.
