Exposure to animals or ticks in SPS Patients

0 Recommendations

I'm participating in s study looking for exposure to uncommon organisms in people who have a high exposure to domestic animals and/or ticks.

There is a preliminary study showing the presence of some uncommon bacteria in the blood of people with chronic fatigue, neurologic symptoms, and muscle aches/stiffness and exposure to animals although the correlation is uncertain.

Just out of curiosity - how many of you SPS patients have pets, or have had exposure to animals, or spend a lot of time outdoors and have had tick bites?
This is not a formal study, but may be an area to look into depending on results of some ongoing work.

I'm from Venezuela, Latin America, and I have been around a lot of animals before. As you may know Venezuela is a very full of different kinds of insects specially ticks. The surroundings of the cities are all usually jungle. So to answer your question, yes I have been bitten by ticks several times in my life I dont think anyone that comes from venezuela hasen't at one point. As for domestic animals I have always had dogs and birds. I have had dogs since I was 12 before that I had asthma and could not have any animals near me, but I outgrewed it and I've been fine since.

hope all is well

My family has had cats or dogs most of my life. the cats were usually inside and dogs usually outside. we only got dogs we kept inside after i'd been diagnosed because it gives me company and encourages me to exercise. I've never had a tick bite that i know of, but lots of spider or mosquito bites.
