Devic's Disease/NMO

0 Recommendations

My Daughter Dawn was diagnosed with Devic's Disease/Neuromyelitis Optica in September 2008. Although her life has changed considerably, so has mine. I made the commitment to be her primary caregiver. Although, I have had to give up a lot, I would not trade her for anything in the world. I love her and I will support her until she no longer needs me.

I understnd how you feel because my husband was diagnosed July 30th 2008 with Devic's Disease. I am a LP and my husband was a Captain of our town Police Dept. It changed our entire lives. We have four children and we are a blended family. I had to quit my job (where I was happy working at) because going back and forth to the hospital and me working part-time and going part-time to college hurt us getting medical help. So I am now a full-time college student, mom, wife, and now my husband nurse/caregiver. This road is hard but it brought our entire family to God and church. So we have to look at this as God using us to maybe help someone else not have to go through some of what we had to since there is noone else around here that has this disease. The closest Dr. that can somewhat treat him is three hours away.
