I have had many kidney infections. They don't always show up in a urinalysis. Cranberry juice is the greatest for kidney infections. It has to be the juice, not the cranberry pill. Cranapple or Cranraspberry or Cranblueberry is OK, too, as long as cranberry is the main ingredient. Red grape juice is hard on the kidneys, at least for me. Lemonade - the frozen kind or the real kind, also helped me but not anywhere near as much as cranberry juice.

There are pills that can stop that feeling like you always need to pee. They numb things up just a little bit.

Make sure your daughter pees frequently enough to keep from have a full, backed up bladder, but not so frequently that her urinary tract gets irritated. Make sure she completely empties her bladder when she does pee. And make sure she wipes in a way that will avoid contamination - front to back.

Hope your daughter is back to normal in no time.

Cathy

THANKYOU

I also have a horsehsoe kidney though I was over 30 when I found out. Any way try feeding her more carbs/less protein for a few days. She may have kidney stones so watch for fever and blood in the urine.

I know where I work we had a patient with a kidney horseshoe. I am not sure of her syptoms but I would refer her to top pediatriac urologist at a childrens hospital to find out various side effects or symptoms if you have not have already. sorry i couldn't be much help but don't give up. see what you can find out what can cause burning besides UTI's, is it the outer tissues. please keep us posted and I will wish the best for your daughter

Also I meant to mention if she leaks urine that the urine can irritate the tissues. causing it to burn. so check and see if the tissues around the area are red or irrated if so mention it to the doctor and find out what they recommend.
