I am looking to connect with other 3MCC parents whose children have had a metabolic crisis. My daughter was hospitalized last winter.

Hi -- The Organic Acidemia Association is a parent support group that includes the disorder 3-MCC. We have parents whose children has 3-MCC who are members of our organization and invite you to check us out at www.oaanews.org. We also have an Inspire group here - as well as a Google Group. You would be able to connect with other 3-MCC families through OAA....we welcome you.

Hello,
My darling granddaughter has Methylmalonic acidemia (MMA) with homocystinuria -- a very long word for such a small baby, she just turned one. I have a hard enough time trying to gain information on MMA, so I am uncertain what 3MCC is about, but I do realize it is a metabolic disease. Is your daughter still in the hospital?
Kind regards,
Grandma Pat

My daughter is 5 years old and has 3mcc.
She has been hospitalized at least once a year when she becomes sick and goes into metabolic crisis.

Do you get any kind of warning signs before she goes into crisis? When my daughter had hers there was no sign that she was heading for trouble. I remember thinking the night before that she might be getting a cold and then the next morning she was floppy and lifeless - so scary. And yet she has had full on bronchitis, even a stomach virus without going into crisis!

She always either had a fever or had thrown up more than 3 times in 24 hour period. So we were advised by our doctor to bring her to the emergency room whenever she has a fever for over 24 hours or gets sick more than 3 times.

sorry to hear about your daughter. my son has 3mcc and is 8 months old. he hasnt had any problems yet, fingers crossed. but if you want to chat with someone or need anything let me know.
