Hello everyone, my name is Nichole. I have been with my significant other for over 8 years and we have decided to add another adittion to our family; I already have a 6 year old from a previous relationship. My question is that I weigh 223 and have been trying to lose at least 25lbs before we try to conceive, my doctor's appt is scheduled for august 18 to have the mirena iud taken out, but I beleive I can still be pregnant at this weight and have a healthy baby - so does anyone have any advice it would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance for the advice.

I think it all depends on you. Were you healthy before the pregnancy? How tall are you? I am 5'11 and a half and my pre pregnancy weight this time around was 215 they said i was a little heavy but should be okay right now i am 230 and so far everything has been okay. Maybe you should discuss this with your doctor but i wish you the best of luck! p.s Does the mirena work okay? I want to try it but i've been hearing so many horror stories.

I am 5'8 and right now my weight is 223, my appt isn't until august 18 to have the mirena out, but i believe i would be ok to conceive so until it comes out precautions have been taken like - working out 4x a week, watching what i eat watching my weight until then.

My sister-in-law got pregnant while weighing 215 pounds and she is 5'5". She had a normal, uneventful pregnancy, although the baby was full term, she was just 5lbs6oz. We don't know what caused the lower birth weight, but baby was completely healthy and went home with mom a few days after birth.

Unless you have underlying health conditions that may be why you need to loose some weight, I'd say you'll be fine.

I am currently 32.5 weeks pregnant, 5'6" and prior to pregnancy I weighed in at 197. I have to have a C-Section on 7/26/09 because during my 13 week ultrasound (genetics testing) they found a solid mass tumor on my right kidney which needs to come out.

We hope to be blessed one more time with another baby once I'm medically released from my kidney doctor, and my weight will still be in on the higher end.

Don't get discouraged, keep doing the things you are doing and remember happy thoughts of getting pregnant soon!
