V8 Fusion Juice to Supplement Veggies?

0 Recommendations

Becca is now 16.5/13.5 months old and eating like a toddler - as in, she'll eat something one day but refuse it the next 5. Getting veggies in her is especially hard. Occasionally, she'll eat a few bites of broccoli or some beans, but overall, she's not getting many veggies. We are still giving her the Poly-vi-sol drops (vitamins), but I'm not sure how long we'll be able to wrestle them in her. However, I discovered this weekend that she will drink the V8 Fusion juice - the one that is supposed to taste like fruit (as it has pineapple, orange, and grape juice) but contains a full serving of veggies (in the form of carrot, sweet potato, and tomato juice). I'm diluting it to 50% like all her other juices. Have you heard anything good or bad about giving this juice to toddlers? Any other advice on veggies to try? She HAS to self-feed, but doesn't like anything mushy or sticky. Thanks!

DJ is about to be 3 , hes a picky eater as well and he will just taste veggies, unless I cook them up in spaghetti or something he wont eat it but I gave him Juicy Juice Harvest surprise and it has veggies in it too. Just keep trying thats what Im doing if he east it or not it still sits in front of him to try!!

I say do whatever works to get her some veggies. I think it's pretty common for this age group to not adore veggies. My girls love sweet potatoes fries (just a sweet potato cut up, dash of olive oil, salt, cumin, paprika and roast them at 425 for 15 min.) and canned green beans, and that is it! Go figure. Every now and then we can sneak in pureed spinach in a quesadilla...have you tried green bean casserole? Or glazed carrots with honey? or Dr. Praeger's Broccoli bites for kids? Good luck!
maybe there are some ideas on the website I put together for preemie meal ideas:

SpeasHill,
I give the VFusion (pomegranate blueberry flavor) to my 2 1/2 year old. I mix about 3 1/2 oz. of it with 3 1/2 oz. of the Minute Maid pomegranate blueberry juice with DHA. Since the VFusion is a little thicker than 100% fruit juice, this thins it out without taking away any of the vitamins in it. He loves it and swigs it down with his breakfast everyday and asks for more! In my opinion, it's a great way to sneak in some extra veggies. (But I only give him one sippy cup of juice a day, since the sugars in juice can cause tooth decay.) Hope this helps with your decision. Good luck!

I just want to restate what I wrote, I think those Fusion drinks are great to give our picky kids, if it gets them those added vitamins and minerals. We do whatever we can, right? I may start getting those to, you've inspired me!

My kids will drink regular v-8, so we give them that. It's actually the only "juice" they get.
Check out www.weelicious.com - there are some great veggie ideas there. We do the veggie pancakes and the green treats a lot.

Good ideas, as usual. I will take this advice as well. The sweet potato fries sound great!

I have found the best thing for this! There is a mix called kidz superfood that you can buy online or at a health store or Whole Foods, etc. You can get it in chocolate or berry flavor and you mix it with milk. I sometimes do cows milk, but it seems to dissolve better without foaming up at all in almond or oat milk. It has SO many fruits and veggies in it. I think it's 31. All the color spectrum- greens (Lima beans, alfafa, wheat grass, asparagus, broccoli, brussell sprouts) as well as the other colorful fruits and veggies (reds, oranges, blues, etc). And it only has 1 g sugar. No added sugar at all. My daughter asks for her "chocolate milk" every morning. She loves it and has no idea she's getting 31 different varieties of fruits and veggies. Hope your kids like it.
