Too much, or not enough?

1 Recommendation

I'll be 20 weeks on Monday! Yeah! Half-way there! But, I'm a little conflicted at the moment. I've been denied the progesterone shots, so I purchased them out of pocket 2 weeks ago. While in my OB's office, she contacted my primary Perinatologist and he suggested the terb pump. Insurance company JUST approved it a few days ago. However, another perinatologist in the group took me off of the terb pills and doesn't recommend it until around 22/24 weeks. Anyway, has anyone had any experience with the terb pump and progesterone shots in conjunction with each other? I've been doing well thus far, but just not sure what to do. My OB is not much help, for she's not a specialist and doesn't really have much knowledge about what to do. But my perinatologist group apparently has different opinions. Any suggestions or comments about the terb pump and progesterone shots used together? Thanks!

Procardia Progesterone Pregnancy Indomethacin

I don't have any experience with the shots I was on progesterone suppositories starting at 22 weeks when I was on hospital bed rest. I was never on terb. I was on procardia every 4 hrs to stop my contractions. I just want to give you some support : ) Hang in there and good luck.

here's my advice - you need to get your doctors on the same page, and switch OB's if need be. They're duty is to put together a path of treatment for you, and if that means they need to sit down and come to an agreement, then you need to tell them to do that. I had a team of approx. 15 doctors that saw me during my high risk experience, and I'm sure they often didn't agree on certain things, but they would always present me one solution, the one they at least agreed would be the best one - how frustrating for you to not have that singular voice from your MD team! If they can't do that for you, go with the opinions of the high risk team, they have the most experience with this!
I was on Indomethacin to stop contractions, and had terb a few times to stop them when they got really bad, and it worked!

I just finished taking indomethacin after 7 days. my pains in my lower back has stopped (thank god) and i go back to my ob on tues july 7th. i see my specialist on july 14th. this is my 2nd ob and i'm really frustrated because this one was recommended to me. i realize that all she can do is general stuff. she told me i had to have a c-section with this pregnancy. i will ask her for her explanation on my next visit because my gyno who did my myomectomy in 2005 said that i should be able to have a vaginal delivery. anyway, having everyone come to one agreement would be so helpful right now. im just thankful that im feeling better and that im really hopeful with this pregnancy. thanks for the advice!

Well, just stay relaxed, on your back, drink lots of fluids and pee often! I want you to keep that baby safe for as long as possible!
My sister was on the terb pump for 4 weeks with her little girl, and it totally worked. I was on Indomethacin and it totally worked fo rme. Do whateveer you can to keep the contractions stopped! Good luck and let us know your progress (but I pray we don't hear from your until week 40!)

good luck

I was on progesterone suppositories starting at 24 weeks (shouldve started at 22 though) and the terb pump! I still had contractions though all the timeand would have to get more terb but always worked! I had PROM at 30 weeks and delivered a 3# 4oz boy that day. I am happy to answer any questions you have about the pump!
