synagis shots??

0 Recommendations

I had Everest at the Pedi October 2nd for his 4 month well visit. Our pedi said Everest is on her list for the synagis shot, and they would be in contact with us when they arrived she said normally they come the end of October early November. Have you already gotten the 1st shot? Should I call to see when they will be in if they know? I dont want him to be overlooked somehow!

I think our shots always started in November, but I had to coordinate them with our insurance's pharmacy. Have you checked with your insurance to see if they will cover the shot? I only ask because they are crazy expensive and even a small copay is a BIG copay on this one. Some insurances try to deny paying for the shot if you haven't jumped through the proper hoops and had them pre-approved too- found that out the hard way the first go around.

Good Luck!

I work for the hospital, and our pedi was "fighting" with our insurance company due to them only wanting to cover 3 shots. Havent heard anything else yet.. He was released from the hospital 8/11 and was on oxygen until release w/ BPD and our neonatologists said we shoudnt have an issue

Definitely look into it! My daughter is getting the shots also, and from what her pulmonologist said it is very important for babies at high risk for RSV to get these shots. Your ped doctor should have already started the pre approval process, if they have not then stay on them about it and find out what exactly you can do to help. My daughter was a 26 weeker weighing 13 ozs at birth and she just got her shot last week.

I would call now and then to follow up on them. They could always make a mistake and overlook you guys. I would nicely check in and be sure you are in the forefront of someone's mind:) Can't hurt, right??? :) Good luck!!!

Violet had her first shot the first week of October and will get them through feb. Apparently they are only giving 5 doses??

Check with the pulmo, Elijah has been getting it every month since last Oct when he was discharged from the NICU, Now for Chloe who is on a trach and has pulmpnary Hypertention, they are giving us a hard time because she is over a yr old. Crazy!!!

We're still waiting for the synagis to arrive in Western NC. It's later than it arrived last year. I'm calling tomorrow to double check the arrival status.

My daughter will be getting her first one the 17th of Nov. The dr. office took care of everything for us, but I would defintely get on top of it. They started processing everything in Sept. and it took about a month to get everything approved.

Our ped. told us that Owen would start getting the shot in October, but as of last week, they were thinking it would be November because of the new guidelines. They submitted for insurance approval of 5 shots starting in Nov. We're still waiting to hear from the insurance company...which reminds me that I should call and bug them!

My son is getting his first shot this afternoon! I can't wait, one less worry. I hate taking him to the doctor. I worry when I'm in there that he is going to get sick.

My son received his first one 10/15. He is a year old so normally would not be approved but he is still on 02. Last year (he got out of hosp in jan) it was a three ring circus trying to coordinate & make sure my insurance was going to pay for them. This year we have changed peds and they have a wonderful nurse who was a NICU nurse & heads up the synergis shots she started the paperwork in august and we're all approved it seemed so easy this year. Good luck to you just stay on top everybody!

Our son qualified too, this is his 2nd year. We just found out earlier this week, so now we are waiting to hear from the specialty pharmacy. He qualified for 5 doses.

New guidelines! We are still waiting, pre-approval was denied, we are pending appeal. from our ped. We were told only to expect 3 shots, starting in November. Our LO was born at 34 weeks RSD, on o2 for 10 days in NICU 3 weeks. I'm hearing that later term preemies aren't qualifying for as many shots this year. We are grateful for 3. He currently has a virus & it's NO FUN!!!

Adayah had her shot this week, she is currently 20mths old, 17 adjusted, she was a 23 weeker with CLD, There was no problem getting her approved.

jordin just got his shot today

I called the pedi. today and they said that we will be getting a call here in the next 2 weeks they should have the shots.. so hopefully !

I am just so worried with all of this illness going around! he cant get flu shots b/c hes not 6 months yet... but at least he is home fulltime

Stay on your pediatrician's office! Don't been afraid to be the squeaky wheel. We are our kid's best advocate.

My daughter received her 1st shot of the season during the first week of October. She is approved for 6 shots. She is an x-27 weeker with BPD and a family history of asthma.

I'm not sure if I should get my baby the shot. I am so worried about mercury and aluminum and autism I just don't know.

My son was a 32 weeker and is now 16 months old. He received the shot last RSV season and is receiving Synagis again this season. My insurance approved 5 shots, however come Jan. 10 we will need to meet another high deductible. Does anyone know of any assistance out there for people WITH insurance but have high out of pocket expenses?
