sick/flu without fever?

Hi my 21 month old daughter woke up this morning fine and within a half hour wouldn't drink her bottle and then threw up. She continued to lay around very weak and sick. She did not have a temperature and then fell to sleep. I called her doctor and the nurse said just give her liquids and let her rest. I told her she was a former 28 weeker but she said that didn't matter. Anyways after she woke up she wanted her milk which I reluctently gave her and she drank the whole bottle and then wanted in her highchair. So I gave her crackers and chicken noodle soup which she ate almost the whole can and then also had some juice. She has seemed a little sluggish here and there but for the most part has seemed to feel 100% better from this morning. I was wondering if anyone has has a quick illness like this and if children can have a stomach bug/ flu virus without a fever?
Thanks,
Kim

Other than being sluggish, my 20 month son seemed to have something similar 2 weeks ago. He had it for about a week. Once a day he would just throw up. He didn't eat as well and was a little less happy than normal but he never ran a fever and didn't slow down at all. After almost a week I called his ped and she told me to continue to keep an eye on him and make sure he was getting plenty of liquids. She also said that it may have been a gastrointesinal bug that they had been seeing.

Hope she is feeling better!

if the child has a virus, most times it does not cause a fever... an illness caused by a bacteria will cause a fever

Thanks ladies. Good to know. I always have a fever when I'm sick so this was a new one to me.

Have a wonderful Christmas!
