When Alex received his shots he was not happy for a few minutes after. But he never had any side effects.
We did a full course of RSV shots and had no side effects what so ever.
The first time that my son had the Synagis shot, he did get very tired. But he also had had a flu shot a couple days previous.
After the first time, it wasn't a problem.
The Synagis shot is dosed to their weight, so as they get bigger, the shot gets bigger. By our last shot of the season, my son required two shots.
My son has a pretty high pain threshold, but the shot does hurt (more so than other shots). There was only one time where it took 3 minutes to quiet him down.
A couple people have said that it is one of the more painful shots that they get.
You could ask them if it is possible to give baby a dose of sugar water (like they do in the NICU) as sugar is a pain blocker. But I am told that as babies get way past the "newborn" (due date) age, the sugar doesn't block the pain receptors as well.
My son had his first shot yesterday. He has had no side effects that I can see. He is eating and sleeping normally and there has been no change in his disposition.
However, I Love Katek's idea about the sucrose pacifier. When Evan got his shot he cried so hard he didn't breathe for a few seconds- opened his mouth to scream but the scream was silent and I had to blow in his face to get him to breathe. The nurse was so upset, she wanted to cry. I have seen him do that before when he is mad-like when I suction his nose. He was fine after that
There isn't even hardly a mark where he got his shot
By the way, I had to sign for the bill when they delivered the shot to my house and it was 2,200$ the nurse came to my house the next day to give it so he wouldn't have to leave the house.

my daughter cries for awhile afterwards and is a little bit more difficult to console as compared to her regular vaccinations, but otherwise, no side effects. i too, have read that synagis is one of the more painful shots. last year, i gave her sugar water on her pacifier when she was younger. after she gave up her pacifier, i would calm her down and then give her a bottle to soothe her. i'm not sure what the plan is going to be for this year's synagis injections now that she is a toddler...
Adayah had her 1st RSV shot on tuesday, she did great and she was not agitated or fussy.
Casey had his first synagis shot today along with his thimerasol free flu shot.
Anyway, Casey cried a tiny bit longer than with his last vaccination, but just for a few seconds. He had to get it in two syringes because he's a chunky butt. :) I gave him tylenol before we went to try and lessen the site discomfort. He came home and took a nap. Other than that, nothing unusual to report.
My twin girls never had any symptoms with the RSV shots except for some pain.
Since it is dosed by weight, as they grow, the amount will increase. By the end of their second RSV season, the volume of the shots was high so they hurt more.
I gave Tylenol about an hour before. I think it helps with any immunization.
My son recieved his Synagis shots last season and he did very well. He never had any reactions after the initial shock and crying that only last about half a minute!
