My daughter who was born in 26 weeks weighing 1lb.90z way back in Aug.15th and she was due the third week of this month, is still fighting her way in the NICU. She went through a lot for the last two and a half month.
Two weeks to her life she was infected with NEC and she needed surgery, she has an ostomy placed on the belly so far for thank god she is doing well.
The doctors wanted her to gain weight so that they can prepare for the reconnection of the intestine.
She has reached their goal and
now the surgery is scheduled for next friday i am very terrified and wants to know if anyone who has gone through this road might be able to share their experience. I am very concerned about the recovery it just seems she is going back to the beginning of the cycle again the vent than c-pap etc.
Please everyone share any similar experience.

Surgery Ostomy

Hi, my baby had his reattachment surgery on Oct 6th. He had some issues after, but they were really rare. He had a medication reaction that most babies do not have. He had been off of oxygen since Aug 8, 2009 & was not having any respiratory issues since. They extubated him the day after surgery (he got reintubated, but had throat swelling). He was finally extubated by Oct 10th & was home on Oct 21st. It was really hard to see him so sick again (but again his post-op course was not usual) but it was great to have his surgery all done. He gained 1 pound the first week that he was home. Even with Zach's post-op issues, his recovery was pretty fast.
