I'm looking for someone out there who has gone through a simular circumstance.

My son was born at 30 weeks. He had no major complications, no brain bleeds, he was only on a vent for less then 24 hours. No heart surgeries, no ROP, NOTHING beside the usual blood transfusions that preemies get in nicu. He had the common issues that preemies have with brady's and apnea while in nicu. That's it!
My son is now 18 months and was just diagnosed with cerebral palsy. I understand that this can happen to any baby, but I'm so depressed because he had no complications in nicu. honestly, it's hard for me to hear about babies that were born earlier, with major bleeds and are growing up normal. Not that I'm not happy for them, because I am. I just don't understand why daniel has this. I just feel so unprepared and so sad.

Im so sorry your son has CP, but if it wasn't diagnosed until 18 months im guessing it isn't a really severe case.. Most kids respond well to physical therapy, you cant even tell they have CP. Our friend is a physical therapist and we talked to her about our sons increased risk (he got postnatal steroids, I had seizures when I was pregnant, he was hypoxic for a period of time, he was 27 weeks), she says most CP kids do well.
