low heart rate

0 Recommendations

My 25 1/2 weeker has been home for 1 month and half. She is still on the apnea monitor and she was doing good till three weeks ago. She has been having low heart rate episodes, at least twice a day. Last time the oxigen people got the information from the monitor they told us that it seem like there were a lot of false alarms. The neonatologist wants to keep her on the monitor for two weeks. The nurse was the one that called and she said it was ok and I shouldn't worry about it, I can't help it, she is done so good so far. I fear that she could have some heart problems.

How low is it going and is it when she is sleeping or awake? By the time they reach a certain gestational age the lower end of the alarm is usually set to 80. Our son's heart rate when sleeping usually hung out in the 90's, dipping in 80's and there was nothing wrong with that. He was released one month after his due date.

My dd is 20 months old and she up until about a month ago was still having low heart rate alarms.

She is awake when it happens and she looks ok, sometimes it goes off when I move her , sometimes she is on the chair doing nothing . It's usually just one quick beep. She is 1 month 1/2 adjusted age. what scares me is that she did not do that before, at least not so often. She came home from the hospital 20 days before her due date. She started doing this a few week ago.

My daughter also had low heart rate episodes after being released from the hospital. I called the company and the lady told me to place the electrodes nipple line, under her arms. Also, hers kept sliding down her chest so I used hypoallergenic medical tape over the electrodes and there hasn't been one alarm in almost 3 weeks. I was hesitant about using the tape at first, but all the alarms were about giving me a nervous breakdown!

We had to put tape over my daughter's leads to help the false alarms. Its seemed to help w/ the low heartrate alarms. I figure maybe occasionally she'd have a low dip but for the most part I think it was the lead not picking up like it should have been.
