Watch her cough. If it is a very "barking" sound, deep, throaty cough, take her into the doctor right away. Croup and even the current flu can have dangerous coughs that require respiratory treatments. Steamy showers can help. Hope she gets healthy soon.

I second mygirlsmom's comment about the seal bark. If it becomes deep and throaty, you'll want to have a doctor take a look at her right away.

You could ask the doctor if the Baby Vapor Rub is OK to use. We used it on our son. I can't remember the age when you can switch to the regular Vapor Rub, but I would definitely ask the doctor.

The Vicks Baby Vapor Rub has eucalyptus, rosemary, and lavender, which many babies find soothing.

Upon recommendation by previous posters on this board, we would put it on our son's feet (the soles) at night. Snopes.com looked into the soles of the feet and vapor rub claim but hasn't been able to determine if the claim is scientifically validated or not or just an internet rumor.

We figured that it wouldn't hurt, so we've done it a couple times.

Thanks for the reply.
She has mild cough but little bit of hoarsness in her voice. may be due to excessive crying??? should i wait till morning?

I would watch her throughout the night, go in there often, check temp., and take her in the morning. don't let them tell you they don't have an opening. Cough and fever with a preemie can be very dangerous.

My daughter had a cold last week. We gave her a steam bath 3 times a day. Also got a humidifier, which I don't know how much it helped. I think the steam bath helped alot plus she enjoyed it!
