Gtube fed daughter pulls tubing

0 Recommendations

Hello! My two year old daughter who has had a Mic-Key button for the majority of her nutrition has recently started to pull at the extension tubing when she is hooked up for a feed (while sitting in her high chair). We have tried hiding the tubing in her pants, up her shirt, all over the place and it doesn't work! We even tried to put her in different types of chairs/walkers and she still wants to pull the tubing. Any advice?

No advice, just wanted to let you know that i could not hook my son up until he was asleep at night and then he still pulled the extensions out and we fed the bed more than we fed him. He is 17mths and we are finally working on getting his out, in two weeks. Just wanted you to know they eventually come out....

my son also plays with his tubing while in his highchair. He is 27 months. I just try to keep his hands busy with other things. Try taking something she really likes to play with and only let her have it when she is eating. I give my son an old cell phone and it keeps him busy the 45 minutes it takes him to eat. Or you can let her play with playdoh or whip cream or pudding. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!

Hey you! Do you have any onesies you can put on her then run the tube down her leg? You can also put the tubing in the diaper tab to keep it close to her. Just be sure there is enough slack so it doesnt pull out the button. Maybe give her a toy to distract her while feeding. Or put the tray on the highchair so she cant get her hands donw there. Thats all i can think of...Good luck! Email me and let me know how ya make out. Oh and how much weight has she gained? Talk to ya soon! Take care

Hello AYLASMOMMY, I have a 26 weeker that is on her pump 24 hours a day, She is 31 months now and we have the ZEVEX INFINITY pump I just got a SUPERMINI backpack that she wears and its the best invention EVER. She has always played with her tubing.. I ordered it from APRIA HEALTHCARE. Depends on where you get all of her supplies, They really worked with me to get me what worked for her. She is 22 pounds and is almost 3.

My daughter does this ALL THE TIME. It can be aggarvating and irritating because you do not want it to hurt them. My daughter made her old button loose so i had to get a new one replaced. But i give her a toy to play with and tell her NO. She has now become mobile so when i lay her on her bed. (That's where she always eats via Gtube) She is rolling over and trying to sit up. I have to keep rolling her over sometimes holding her leg or her arm so she can't move and pull it out of place. I also don't use the pump never did (at home). and she gets fed via g- tube every feeding i just do gravity feeds- they are faster and more convenient. You control how much they get and how fast. She also has gerd and she does better this way. Good lUCK.
