Circumcision and Hypospadius Correction

0 Recommendations

My son who is now 8 months adjusted/10 months actual had surgery on October 6th. He got circumcised and they corrected his hypospadius (moved his urethra up where it should be), it was a 2 hour procedure. Well he went for his post-op exam 3 weeks later, they then tell me he should have had a 10 day post-op but NO ONE told me this they only said 3 week. Well his stiches hadn't come out and they said well they're usually out by now but they will either dissolve or fall out...well it's now November 1st and no such luck, all the stiches are securely in place and the circ. scar where they put the stiches is discolored and almost polka dot looking, there's a very very obvious mark around his penis like this - - - - and each little dot is raised and swollen. I'm really getting concerned, I tugged a little on one and it was not going to easily budge so I let it be. His penis is still very swollen and just looks very bumpy. I'm terrified that they've messed up his penis (that could really hurt his self-esteem in the future and he could be taunted or made fun of!) Has anyone else had an experience like this? Did it "smooth out" like his doctor claims it will? Should I do something about these stiches? His surgeon is IMPOSSIBLE to get an appointment with, I can't even do the proper follow up exams because he didn't have any appointments available until december. It's 5 days shy of a month, I've never heard of any stiches or staples staying in this long!!

Surgery

My son was born with hypospadius also. He had 2 different surgeries. We did have a follow up like a week later I believe. His stitches dissolved. I would call the Doctor that performed the surgery and tell them whats going on. Demand to be seen. I do know it took awhile for my sons penis to look somewhat normal. Right now he is 4 and you have to look really close to see any scar tissue. He had a surgery at about 6 months and another at 18 months because he sprung a leak.LOL! I hope you get some answers.
