I was just curious... has anyone here had to deal with an NJ feeding tube? We will be getting one if Destiny has another major reflux issue and she doesn't seem to be improving much so far with the new medication dosages. We'll see how it goes though, because she only went to the higher doses two days ago. If you have had an NJ before, I have some questions.

Are you able to place the NJ yourself she pulls it out, or do you have to go to the hospital to have it done? Our closest hospital that CAN place one is an hour away... and we have 4 within 15 minutes!
How long does it take to feed your daughter and how often do you feed her?
Are they having you nipple feed at all? We've been told that if she gets the NJ they will still have her eat from a bottle once or twice a day so that she remembers how.
What led you to get the NJ? Ours would be due to reflux issues bad enough that an NG just won't cut it... they are trying to give her some time to safely outgrow her reflux before they consider the nissen surgery.

1. Unfortuanly you cannot replace it yourself has to be done under flouropscy which is a live Xray.
2. Uusaually babies on a NJ get a contuins feed. She gets 25 cc a h/r.
3. My dauhgter is allowed to have feeds by mouht she can take a sippy cup and bbay food.
My daughter is 9 months old due to her premautiry she has a narrowing in the intestines which whne she feeds by mouth she pukes it up . When we wer told she was coming home the first time she just had suregy to fix pyloric stensos and once that got fixed hte other problem popped up.
Honestly I hate the NJ tube because she pulls it out about every couple days . The radiolosit contacted my daughters Gi and said we need a more permant tube becasue everytime she goes to get the tube replaced she gets radiataion. We have a scop eon the 28 th and we are hoping her narrowing has improved enough that she can have a Gj tube.
Another thing I should warn you about it with having a NJ tube my daughter pukes baout 6 times a day with green acid.
