Another Year Gone By

Wow. I had completely forgotten about this website. Its been a little over a year since i posted and so much has happened. I'm glad to see how happy i was a year ago. Its trippy because i had no idea how much wonderful things were in store for me. I guess i'll just summarize how 2008 went.

I went back to school at Santa Barbara City College for a semester. I learned a lot about film and editing in an editing class i took. I learned how to use Final Cut Pro and enjoyed the class. Other than that i realized that I simply hate school. I hate teachers, trying to inflict their opinions on easily influenced santa barbara whores, i hate homework and writing papers.... so i decided to quit. I stopped at the end of the semester.

In the mean time during that semester, I got a job at a scammy call center, selling lists of foreclosed homes and repossessed autos. Eventually the call center was raided by the FTC and everyone was laid off. But it was a wonderful experience because i learned that I am very skilled on the telephone, and that i very much enjoy the stable paycheck.

SO having decided that i NEVER want to go to school again, i decided to pursue a full time job at a local software company. I got the job and am still working there. I absolutely LOVE it. I love the people, the money, and the company. I have been able to save a lot of money, in fact, i just spend 5k of my hard earned cash on a brand new and better wheelchair! i'm so proud of myself that i was able to do this. its too bad insurance wouldnt cover it. :( but oh well!

aside from going to school and then quitting, and then getting a job, i had a very exciting year. I went on several trips.

the first one was in january 2008. I went to Las Vegas with my mom. It was the first time flying on a plane after being paralyzed so i wanted my momma with me. I went there to meet up with a good friend who is a quadreplegic that i met on the internet. It was wonderful to meet her and roll around with her.

then in march, i went to amsterdam with some friends and my sister jamie. it was an amazing life changing experience when i realized that i really can do ANYTHING i set my mind to. and that my chair really cant hold me back anymore, in any way.

in june, i went to philadelphia to visit some family members. that was my first trip totally by myself. it went very smoothly and it was fun.

another thing that happened in 2008, i finally got my driver's license back. of course that was great for my independence, and i really cant imagine how i lived 2 years without it!

so now its 2009, i actually just went on a trip to florida to visit my grandmother. she's doing wonderfully and it made me happy to show her how well i'm doing.

i also just had some surgery, which i'm not in the mood to talk about right now, but the bottom line is, it was very invasive, and the recovery is grueling. however it was all of the best, and its only going to make me a better and brighter lindsay once i'm fully recovered.

anyways, that's what happened over the year, perhaps i will make a habit of logging on and updating more frequently.

tootleloo!
