HI I HAVE AN UPDATE MY NEPHEW INJURIES ARE T12 INCOMPLETE DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT PLEASE LET ME KNOW THANK YOU ALL
My son's injury is T-11 incomplete, what this means is my son has signal issues (damage) from the T-11 area down. The incomplete injury is good, it gives him a better chance at gaining the ability to walk again. No one can really tell you what to expect as each injury is unique and follow's its own path not the Dr's.. Positive attitudes go a long way. From only 4 months ago, my son has gone from being paralyzed from above the belly button down to being paralyzed from the lower hips down with some leg movement now and even some toe wiggles.. (though you can still walk again even if your toes don't wiggle). He can crawl on all fours and walk several steps with leg braces on. He can feel down to his toes but it is a dulled feeling not normal yet. My son is 15 years old. He is determined to walk again and I believe he will do it. It may not be graceful for awhile but...We have watched several people in therapy with injuries much worse than my sons walk well but with knee braces and supports. Just depends on the injury and how the body reacts to it.
Your nephew is going to go through a world of very frightning changes with his body and it is scary as a parent or relative to walk this path with them. Just be there for him, and encourage him to fight to gain all he can gain back. Ask questions here .. the people here have been our Angels helping us keep our hopes and spirits up.
Best Wishes and our Prayers go out to your Nephew and your entire family.
Michelle and Matthew
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE PRAYERS WE ARE PRAYING FOR YOUR SON AND HIS RECOVERY MY NEPHEW IS VERY DEPRESSED MILDRED
Your nephew is going to have up and down times it is normal. An angel on this site called me at the hospital after they took my son out of the ICU.. He shared with us "Facts" and realities and told me to tell my son this was going to be a fight he had to fight with all he has and its not going to be easy and there are going to be days that are so hard you want to give up but you can't ever. His words scared me but were the best advice we got from anyone. He needs to focus and fight .. this isn't the end of his life only a new beginning and it DOES get better. Once he gets into rehab and starts pushing forward and goes to the classes and learns about his injury and how to work with it.. it gets easier .. The more he learns the more confidence he will gain.
Again our prayers are with you all
