For the first time in about 5 days we have had good weather. It was truly weather befitting a holiday, beckoning people to do some sort of recreational activity whether it be testing one's physical capabilities or just people hanging out in the front yard.
My recognition of the holiday was going to be an attempt at cleaning up my place. The idea came to me last night and I was really psyched. Upon awakening at around 2:00 pm the idea of cleaning my place didn't seem as inviting though I was ready to proceed. It was a quiet afternoon, for the only sound that could be heard was the sound of me talking to myself in an attempt to motivate myself for the arduous task confronting me. But as happens many times during the day, Beep Beep then engaged in one of her frenzied barking rituals. After about a minute, I decided to see what she was barking at. The people who live in the front unit of an adjacent duplex were having a little party. There were 3 dogs running around and it looked like Beep Beep would have fun. So I decided I would get dressed and take Beep Beep out in the front yard. I was thinking of what I would say since I don't talk to many people these days. I was going to say that Beep Beep told me she wanted to smell some butts, because she doesn't get much of an opportunity. There would be laughter in the true spirit of the holiday. Maybe one of the women would think I was funny I hoped. I put on some shorts and put on a shirt to cover my once proud body.
After wheeling myself outside, I extended the retractable leash which was hooked to my wheelchair. Immediately the 3 small dogs came running over with their tails wagging only to be greeted by Beep Beep snapping at all 3 of them. Beep Beep had her tail between her legs. She really didn't know how to act around other dogs. She just wanted to be left alone. It didn't turn out like I had hoped. In a lot of ways Beep Beep is a lot like me.
In the past all of my dogs were always friendly. I was able to tolerate many things, but I always drew the line at any kind of aggression. My last dog Rocky was so friendly and animated with other people and dogs and in a lot of repects so was I, but so much has changed since then. I have been forced to settle on so many fronts, but one thing is true, Beep Beep and I may be screwed up, but we need each other.
I'll clean the place tomorrow. I am really psyched.
