For anyone considering a post-acute outpatient intensive exercise program like this, keep the following points in mind. This is not necessarily specific to this program, but to all programs like this (and there are a number of them):

These programs do NOT replace an acute inpatient rehab program for those who are newly injures. Most have no nursing or physician services.

Check out the credentials of those providing the "therapy". Some have no formal training as a PT or OT or even something like athletic trainers background.

Many insurances will not pay for these programs, and they can be very expensive, plus the costs of living in the area for the months usually recommended for a program.

Really look into their outcomes. Most programs only tell you about their "successes", which often are people who are very incomplete, and these are the people they will refer you to if you have questions. Hang out at the program and talk to people there (not just the staff) and find out how long people have been going, what changes (if any) they have seen, etc. Ask to speak to people who are no longer in the program as well.

Check out other SCI discussion sites (not just this one) to find others with experience with the program, but be wary as many posts, such as this one, are thinly veiled ads posted by owners or employees of the program themselves.

thanks for the info. Jo Ann
