Recently, I have had an oily discharge from my bowels, sometimes with a stool and other times it just comes out w/ no stool. I know I need to see a doctor on this, so please no one advise me on that. A question though.

I have had 2 bouts of pancreatitis, so could that be the cause, seeing as how the first was in 2001 and the 2nd in 2004?

I've also read it could be any number of things but right now, I'm worried about the pancreas thing and maybe something has happened that I need enzymes for the pancreas to correct what I've been going through.

Thanks to anyone and everyone who might be able to shed some light on this.

You may not have to see a doctor. Have you been eating anything containing Olestra? It is a fat substitute and among the side effects are oily
stools. I would look into that, being that it is
prevalent in products such as chips.

Thanks for the info Mikey. However to my knowledge, I have not eaten anything containing olestra. I haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary that I don't usually eat and as far as snacking, I hardly do that.

I had the same thing or similar issues. It's start with oily then bloody this went on about a week. I had no insurance at the time and my doctor would not sent me to any specialist.

So I changed my diet and ate soft food (no oil product like oily fish/ no acidy item) and I got back to normal afer a week. Go see a doctor and ask about if you could change your diet like me.

When ever my bowl is not good. I only eat rice soup. Rice cook with 100 time amount of water to rice until it start to desolve or rice broken/ open like pop corn. Add a little salt for taste. Good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Good luck.

Hey, I hope you are already doing better. I do know that if you have become impacted with fecal matter, you can have an oily discharge that seeps past the blockage. If you have become very constipated, you need to take care of the situation.
If you have indulged more and richer foods during the holidays, you may have more waste accumulated than normal, so you just have to catch up, then get back to your usual eating and evacuation habits.
The Olestra problem could be the case if you unknowingly ate food made by someone who uses the product to try to make "diet" cookies or fudge... but the side effect would end in a short time if you only ate it once.
I know you'll see your doctor soon if this problem persists or gets worse. Good luck!
