Ok so I haven't been here in a while to write anything, but I have been stalking on a regular basis LOL !!! Reading and keeping up to date with many people's struggle to succeed at life and difficult times, with their many challenges and say HOORAY to everyone on them !!
So after just doing the minimum to get by and feeling sorry for myself, I was introduced to a father and his son who have conquered some amazing challenges, and continue to fight the good fight. I met Dip and his son Shane about 2 wks ago who have been through....... a near fatal car crash, to being in a coma for 9mths, where every doctor had given up hope on him. His dad never gave up hope, and through many efforts, one being acupuncture, got a response from Shane and he came out of his coma. He had alot to work on and with the use of a MotoMed as well as intense physical therapy, round the clock nursing care, and the never wavering support from family Shane is now able to roll on his own, stand in a standing frame by pulling himself upright, converse intelligently in conversation albeit with a little difficulty, and be an over all beacon of hope to many people.
Now after meeting Shane I thought to myself, if he can make it this far after everything......then what am I holding myself back for ? If he can improve so can I, the only thing stopping me .....is myself !! So I decided I am going to get out of this hospital bed this week, move back on to a normal queen sized bed, which will be much easier for me to use to get in and out of bed into my wheelchair on my own, instead of having to just depend on my nurse who is only with me from 7am to 1pm. That means I can be more independent and move about more often...better for my body indeed !!
So in my effort to do more for myself I need some information from you cats out there.
- What pieces of equipment can I get to help strengthen my non functioning legs? I heard about MotoMed (still doing my research),
- Some stuff about some electrodes you put on your legs and it helps you move them ?
- A seat belt for my wheelchair? So I can stretch and not feel scared about falling out.
- Boots to help my legs / feet from dropping, curling, turning out ?
- Items to have near by in bed to help me prop myself up?
Ok this is all very scary for me as I am challenging myself. I know to some of you it may seem small, but we all have different challenges as we go along. I've had bigger, but this is just what I am dealing with this week. So any information will be greatly appreciated. I hope this note find you all in good health and remember we're all still here so it must mean we're pretty freakin special.
Live Love Enjoy !!!
