Losing hope for recovery

0 Recommendations

I seem to be at a standstill (pardon the pun) in my recovery progress, as much as it is. I know my condition is perminent but I have seen small advances. Now I lost most of my fervor for exercise and find I would rather lie on the couch and watch TV.

I ask the community out there how do you keep up your enthusiasm for exercise and recovery? Also, what equipment do you use? What kind of bikes, weights, and regimen are the most effective?

I appreciate any suggestions,
Carole

Exercise ALS Pain

Try this video: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/innovation/episode6.html I know that when I watched it, it gave me hope (where none was). I'd also like to send you my bio that took me over 7 months with 1 finger!

I also have hope that a cure will come soon.

I exercise three times a week. I stand at my standing frame or I walk down the hall and bsck with crutches. If I just sit there I end up in pain.
I feel down lots. Whenever I think of doing bad things to myself, I journal or talk to friends and family.

Hey,, I am in the same boat. Something that drive me to stand on this kid play ground was that someone(my Dad) said," Your sickness can heal and if u don't heal you can still do other stuff when you are stronger."

So, from me to you and everyone else. "YOU CAN NOT BE STUCK IN THE CONDITION YOU ARE IN, BECAUSE THE HUMAN BODY CHANGE AS TIME GOES BY. IT'S UP TO YOU WHICH WAY YOUR BODY CHANGE TO."

Good Luck,
Anthony

Carole,
I think if we had the secret to that answer we would all be rich. Motivation is a tough thing to keep going. I think it is actually quite alright to get off a path once in a while and relax, watch tv, pet the dog, regroup and maybe find a new passion... look for suggestions.. like you are doing now and then look to a more hopeful and beautiful tomorrow. I know you want so much more.. I do to... maybe tomorrow we will have more answers... : ).
