Hello everybody,
I need as much advice as I can get. I have been diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tackycardia Syndrome and Dysautonomia that is causing even more problems now with the rest of my organs. I have been sick for a little over three years now but sometimes doubt if this is what I really have so I will give you a brief med history and see what you think.
When I was 15 I had the flu really bad two days later I was feeling better, the next night I woke up with a very bad headache, tremors, and lots of sweating, I was really dizzy and my coordination seemed really off. to make a long story short after all these symptoms followed paralysis. Doctors believed that it could possibly be gulliam berre syndrome but a lot of symptoms didn't match up with it so we kept searching until three years later I was diagnosed with (pots) and dysautonomia.
I believe I could have something genetic because my dad and his twin sister have many of the same symptoms that I have, along with most of the men on his side of the family as far back as he can remember.
I don't know if listing my symptoms will help you put anything together but here they are.
paralysis
tachycardia
chronic dehydration
tremors
double vision
fatigue
fainting
joint pain
nerve pain
skin pain
sensitive hearing
rapid weight loss
headache
swelling of the legs
severe hip pain
hair loss
hot flashes (I'm only 18)
and the list goes on and on but these are the main symptoms that I have. My Dad's twin sister is now paralyzed and nobody knows what the cause is. My twin sister has breathing problems, hip pain, pain in the chest cavity, headaches, hot flashes, and gets really dizzy. My younger brother has knee pain, and headaches when he was 8 both of his legs locked at a bent angle and had bad pain in them he made a full recovery by the time he was 11. my older brother gets very bad headaches and joint pain. My mom is healthy, breast cancer, lung cancer, and MS run in her side of the family.
So if you have any clues of what this could be please let me know.
Nina

Where do you live? Could there be something in your enviornment affecting all your family members? Have you considered holistic approaches along with the medical community?

I don't know anything about the disease, but most of the problems that you list are ones that vaious forms of electronic medicine claim to have helped substantially. Regular medicine tries to treat the specific problems, but often is unable to do much wiht the underlying cause, and hopes that what they call the placebo effect (really, the body's natural ability to heal itself, especially when the mind is also involved) will step in and improve the situation. Alternative medicine, of which electronic medicine is a branch, looks at the body as a whole, and tries to set an environment where healing is more likely, then work with the body to trigger the body's natural healing processes. Totally different approaches.
