I don't know the effectiveness. Laurence Johnston, on in his book on Alternative SCI injury treatments, and in the web site he contributed to on new and emerging technologies (http://www.sci-therapies.info/) seems to think there is something to this, provided you find a real one. The film "The Living Matrix" provides the same opinion, but not specifically related to SCI.
