0 Recommendations

i'm not sure how but i have what looks to be a bug bite in 2 places on my right arm. i don't remember being bitten and it's been like that for 2 days now with redness and swelling from middle of forearm to the elbow. i've put benadryl cream on it and it looks to be getting worse. any ideas?

MRSA Bursitis Benadryl Cellulitis

Good morning Mickey, The redness concerns me. You are decribing cellulitis and that can become life threatening. You need to see a doctor, ASAP. Even if the redness is not from infection, it is still important to find out what is causing it.

hello I've had bug bites that sound like what you have. sounds like you've got cellulitus. swelling and redness that keeps spreading. you need some antibiotics for this bite. hope this helps have agood day

I hope you have gone to see a doctor and gotten some anitbiotics as it sounds just like what my husband has. He too does not remember anything biting him, but something did. His is in the back of the leg, behind the knee.
When he had me look at it the other day it was just a raised area, but today it was not only raised, but red with markings as well as red radiating out around it about 8 inches. He went to the doctor and was given a prescription for an antibiotic to take 4 times a day. He has to go back on Friday and if it has not gone down they will have to drain it.
If you have not seen a doctor I would go today.
take care

As you all can see, I've changed my picture so I could show what my arm looks like from the description I gave. Any more input is greatly appreciated and thanks to all who've responded so far.

That does not look good and it should be seen by a doctor. With the right treatment you should be on the way to recovery soon.

Matt, if warm you definitly need to be seen could be abcess usually with organism called MRSA needs drainage and antibiotics. Can't exctly see from the picture but if right on back of elbow may be olecranon bursitis simple swellinf of a protective sac behind elbow but if red, warm could still be infected. See a Doc, ASAP

Yeah that's what I thought at first was that it was bursitis but I talked to my mom who looked at it and told me it wasn't since she's had it before and knows what it feels like. I talked to my home health nurse and she said that she didn't see the need for a doctor visit now but if things worsened then to go, so, not trying to be pig-headed about it, until then, I'm using Medihoney on it to see if that does the trick cause if it is MRSA, they say medihoney is great for that.

from the picture I will tell you to call your doctor the reaction your having is like that of a poisenous spider bite...maybe recluse and it will get much worse if it is ....look up recluse spider bites....prolly got you when you were sleeping...my son Nate was bit on the back over his spine the bite grew to softball size and exploded leaving him with a hole that got MRSA in it ...it was bad...please get it looked at better safe than sorry.

mrsa is an antibiotic resistant staph infection that can kill you fast if not treated right away..you need it cultured if you even think its possible you have it..its also highly contagious...my daughter got it from touching my son...a teen in our school died last year from it...
