Acetaminophen + gabapentin

I recently read in a spinal cord research article that they have found that acetaminophen augments the benefit of gabapentin in regards to nerve pain. Sometimes the gabapentin just isn't enough. When that happens, I have lately tried 500 mg of acetaminophen. For me it takes the edge off the pain! Has anyone else tried this? I haven't talked to my pharmacist yet. I wonder if it could be a problem? I would love to hear from any of you who know something about this.

Talk to your doctor but yes you can take them at the same time, they were giving it to my son in the hospital when he would have headaches with this nerve pain combined with his disreflexic attacks he had early in his injury. He didn't notice he said any increase in the effects just that his headaches would go away.. High doses of caffine made his headaches go away too so they dosed him with starbucks for a few days. Matthew is 16 and when he hurts or gets a headache I give him 1000mg of tylenol with his afternoon gabapentin i.e generic Neurontin. But he prefers Motrin says it works faster. I have not read where it is harmful in any way but its always best to talk to your doctor or pharmasist when dealing with these kinds of things as you may take other drugs that may not mix with the two so always best to ask the professionals.

HI,
GABAPENTIN STOPPED WORKING FOR ME TOO i THOUGHT PAIN WOULD KILL ME AFTER SUFFERING AND GOING TO MY DOCTOR OR HOSPITAL FOR MORPHINE SHOTS I SAW SOMETHING ON TV ABOUT LYRICA i CALLED AND SAW MY DR. SHE PUT ME ON LYRICA RIGHT THEN ITS WORKING NOW BUT WAY IN THE BACK OF MY MIND I WONDER HOW LONG THE LYRICA WILL WORK. I WENT TO A SPECIALIST LAST SUMMER HE SAID HE COULD DO SURGERY ON MY SPINE BUT ITS A DANGEROUS SURGERY HE WOULD ONLY DO IT AS THE LAST RESORT. SO WE'LL SEE I JUST HOPE THE LYRICA WORKS FOR A LONG TIME STAY HOPEFUL BUT IF U R LIKE ME IT WORKED FOR YEARS THEN STOPPED . MY NAME IS MARLENE BY THE WAY STAY FOCUSED ON YOU........................
