Hey Everyone...Because I have been recently diagnosed with a severe Vitamin D deficiency, I've been doing a bit of research on it. Seems that they've done some recent studies with Breast CA patients and discovered that a majority of the women with breast CA have significant Vitamin D deficiency...AND that women WITH the D deficiencies tended to have more rapid advancement of their disease. There is a school of thought now that perhaps Vitamin D could play a part in helping control cancer growth. Since we have all been so preoccupied with sunscreen and preventing skin cancers we've set ourselves up for vitamin D deficiency...You can't possibly eat enough of it to make a difference...but spending 15-20 mins in the sun WITHOUT sunscreen every day can help...as would supplements. Mine was so severe that I'm taking 50,000 units/week for 12 weeks with an additional 2,000 units a day from now on. Though I lost my MIL to OVCA in February, I still visit this site periodically and wanted to share this information with you. Having your Vit D levels tested and making sure you get sufficient Vit D might help your body fight off the cancer. Turns out D is not just good for bones and teeth...Do a little research on Vit D and cancer or ask your doctor about it.
