Treatment in Atlanta Georgia

0 Recommendations

I have recurrent disease and I have decided to move to Atlanta, Georgia from New Jersey. I am currently being treated at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, an NCI designated facility. I have been considering treatment at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute which I understand has also received NCI status. Does anyone receive treatment there and if so, tell me about it. I was also considering Southeastern Gynecologic Oncology, LLC. Has anyone received treatment there and if so, please tell me about it.

I live in a suburb of Atlanta and use the SEGO group in Gwinnett. Because I have Kaiser I use the Northside facility for surgeries, Kaiser Gwinnett for chemo, and Dr Salmeri for office appts. I teach many students whose parents are nurses at Emory. It is a very good hospital.

I am a patient of SEGO, also. They are based in Roswell, with satellite offices in Gwinnett County and one doctor in Gainesville. I have been very pleased with my care and would not hesitate to recommend SEGO to anyone.

Emory is also considered a gold standard in care of almost anything. I am not specifically familiar with their cancer program.

Feel free to send me a friend request if you want to talk more.

I am also with SEGO in Lawrenceville (Gwinnett County). I have been seeing Dr. Salmieri. Everyone there is just fantastic, I feel I am in good hands. I feel blessed that I was referred here in 2005 for surgery and treatment.

I was not happy at all with the Gwinnett Medical Center were the surgery took place. Dr. Salmieri was fantastic but my stay there was horrible. I think I may try Northside next time, should it come to that.

I am with SEGO and have always felt like they actually care about me, not just the disease. I see Dr. Burrell either at Northside or Gwinnett. I would recommend this group for someone looking for top notch care.

I feel the same way Milashka does about Gwinnett Medical Center. I wouldn't have surgery there again. For other smaller problems yes.

Good Luck on your search.

Plus, Georgia is just a whole lot prettier than New Jersey! Come on down. Maybe we can get together a group of us Georgia ladies one day.

Oh yes let's do that!

I go to Southeastern Gynecologic Oncology and I see Dr. Benigno. Dr. Benigno studied Gynecologic Oncology at Emory University and M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. He has been a Board Certified Gynecologic Oncologist since 1979. Dr. Benigno held teaching positions at Emory for eight years and started the SEGO practice in 1982. He is currently the Director of Gynecologic Oncology for Northside Hospital and is the Medical Director for the SEGO Research Group. Most recently he founded the Ovarian Cancer Institute dedicated to the early detection and community awareness of ovarian cancer. Dr. Benigno sees patients at our Northside location.
His office is next to Northside Hospital in Atlanta.

Good luck in your search. We are all part of the SEGO group.

I am a Emory Winship patient my oncologist is Dr. Nabil Saba and my Gyne/Oncologist is Dr. Cyril Spann both are very good. Emory Winship along with the hospital has two campuses one in downtown Atlanta and the main location in the Emory/North Druid Hills area. Wishing you well on your search. (((HUGS)))
