Things I am grateful for

1 Recommendation

THe kindness of strangers.

A surgeon who knows his way around the territory and wields a scalpel with skill.

Oncology nurses on loan from Heaven.

Grandchildren who make me laugh and hug me in that way they do.

Daughters who are kind and there.

A husband on loan from god who is unfailingly there for me and who loves me.

THe peace of imaginination.

People on this site who know what to say, who know so much information and who are ready to share.

Another day.

Me, too, Patricia! Me, too! It's good to be grateful...just makes for a better day. (smile)

What nice thoughts to start the week. Thank you! I always feel the same way.

Thanks for sharing. It is great to have a thankful heart.

I am thankful for:

My family who I love so much

My friends who I couldn't live without

For this site and all the support I get on here

That I get another day

The will to fight this disease

That I have this disease instead of someone I love...

I have heard if when you wake up every day and name 5 things you are thankful for while you are getting your coffee, having breakfast, getting ready for work, etc, that it makes your attitude and day so much better and brings positive energy around you ! It can be even silly things if you are feeling bad and can't think of big things. Such as : Your tooth brush while brushing your teeth ! Anything !

I am thankful for:

Patricia - for reminding me that we need to stop
every day and say what we are thankful for !

For the LOVE that surrounds me from my friends & family every day !

For PRAYER - the prayers that have and will be prayed
for me daily to battle and defeat this illness !

For my PETS, I don't have grandchildren to spoil, but
I am thankful and love my doggies

For my HOME - I am thankful that I have a warm home to live in.

Thank you Patricia !

Deb

yall are all welcome and indeed it does make me feel better to know everything people said and to think, I never thought of this before, that I am glad it is me fighting this and not one of my daughters. Man, that would be worse than me, I would be out of my mind.

But I am glad it is a great nice day and I feel good and glad and I want everyone to know how important they arfe to me and to each other.

We are fortunate to have computers!!!

things I am grateful for, The beauty of nature and the change of seasons, which I am acutely more aware of since my diagnosis. The Word of God which I can meditate on daily and find peace, especially Psalm 103. My wonderful and supportive husband. My family of course!! And my pet doxie Sadie, and 4 cats.... To wake up each morning, aive again. The fact my cancer was found soon enough to save my life. The surgeons, oncologists, nurses who studied so hard to be so good at what they do.

Have a wonderful day!

the other night my husband said he was depressed and I asked him why. He said because I was in pain and all the bills we have and he will never be able to retire. He has arthritis and is also in some pain, but it is controlled. I replied by saying just think how much better off we are then the homeless and people who are being evicted from their homes. We may not have a lot of money but we have family a warm home over our heads and enough food to eat. We are very lucky in many ways for which I am grateful every day. In the morning I just look up and say thank you.

I am grateful for a husband who quit his job the day I got sick, stayed home a year and then went back to work when we needed him to. ANd never complained.

I am very grateful this day for homemade apple pie, made by me, for lunch!!! It was celebrating my eye doc appt and my blood draw. Hah!

When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Refrain

Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

Refrain

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings. Wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

Refrain

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Refrain

Rose, I love the"angels will attend" part,,

Thank you for reminding me of the many blessings we have, and tend to overlook. If you like to "surf" the net and feel adventurous, check out Dr. Masuro Emoto and the experiments he did with snowflakes, showing the effect gratitude has on the shape of water molecules.

Patricia,

I love that you've started a discussion about gratitude. I loved reading what everyone is grateful for. I could make a list a mile long of the things/people I'm grateful for.

Mostly I am grateful for my cancer. It has been my greatest teacher. It was the "wake up call" I needed. It has led me to examine the part I played in creating this disease in my body.

It has inspired me to seek out and study many wonderful teachers: Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, A Course in Miracles, Dr. Jerremy Geffens, Dr. David Hawkins (author of Power vs Force), Dr. Bernie Siegl, Ann Morrow Lindberg (Gift From the Sea), among dozens of others.

My cancer has been the greatest gift I have ever received. It has helped to deepen my faith and to strengthen my commitment to living my life in a state of unconditional love.

I thank and bless you, Patricia, for starting this discussion. I thank God for leading me to read the postings today. I thank God for this site.

I am thankful for this moment, this computer, my fingers, my eyes, and the spirit of Love/God that flows through me and through each and every one of us. It is like the sun, always shining, but sometimes obscured by clouds.

This little light of mine...

:) Mary Margaret

I think if we count our blessings instead of dwell on our worries it helps to raise us up and feel our best. Thank you Patricia for reminding me of that!

Today as I was reading another post it made me aware of how truly grateful I am to the women who have gone through clinical trials not just for their own good but for the good of all of us. If it weren't for them where would we be? So just wanted to give thanks and praise to each of them.

THank all of you,,I have a conviction that gratitude neutralizes anger, envy, fear and so many things.

And I am most grateful that this cancer, this awful thing, has made me more aware of how privileged and how lucky I have been all my life and how much it means to me.

We pick a husband, when we are young and foolish and silly and by sheer luck I got a gem.

We have a children before we know how badly it can go and by sheer luck I get three good ones.

We walk down the street now knowing if we will be conked over the head, run over by a drunk, have a tree fall on us and by sheer luck, it never happened to me.

I guess it isn't luck, it is grace, the GRace of God who allows us in the midst of all the worst feelings we can have to know that He his there and we have been blessed and we can with his help get through this.

It is a great blessing to know this down to the bones.

Wow! I am blown away! Everyone expressed my thoughts so much better than I ever could! Thank You Everyone! However, I am going to give Thanks for:

First & Foremost! I am extremely Thankful that this latest bout with bowel obstruction and all its pain and no eating or drinking for 2 weeks, has resolved itself the very morning I was down in pre-op waiting for another open belly surgery! Thank You God & Jesus!

I am Thankful For this second remission I have been in for almost 11 months!
I am Thankful and so very Grateful for every new day!
For my family (supportive and loving husband and children and stepchildren and many, many grandkids and great grandkids & friends,
For my safe, warm home, (may we be able to keep up the payments!)
For my Sadie dog, Debo cat and Spooky cat,
For our two Cockatiels..Bandit & Bandito,
My two lonely fish and one HUMGUS Plocosteumus! (sp) hee

And I am very Thankful and Grateful for this place that we can all come to and express our deepest fears and show others all our love and support! I do have a lot to be Thankful for don't I?
your fellow warrior, Tish

Tish!! I never thought to be grateful to poop but I do believe that may be a major one,,hahhahahha!! And imagine God getting all these prayers just to poop. He must just nod his head and think we are all just so "anal". But it made me smile to think about it.
