The Symtom Guidelines - hurrah

0 Recommendations

Today the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance and several medical groups introduced Symptom Diary & Practice Guidance. Finally, advice for your doctor to follow when you or someone you love has symptoms. This has been a long-time coming and many, many thanks to the women who fought to make this a reality. Find it on the website today.

Wondering whether these guidelines are somehow being publicized to gyn, general practitioners and radiologists or is it just on the web site for reference. I can't imagine many doctors referring to a layman's website for guides. But that said, it is a step in the right direction. Had these guidelines been in place I may have had a diagnosis and treatment months earlier.

This is great!!!

I agree its about time. Thanks for that LChristy.

In answer to a question, this guidance is also being shared by GCF the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation so it is out in parts of the physician community

If I was today where I was a year ago, I would be taking that with me to the doctor, particularly the recommended steps page. Hopefully women will find this when out looking up symptoms and use it and more doctors will see it. Just a recommendation, you need to be looking specifically for it to find on the page. Maybe something more prominent to click on the homepage rather than the pull down menu. We probably all need to do our part to direct those ladies who come here looking for answers.

Thank you very much. I've already downloaded the booklets (in color, of course) and I'll be placing them in my office with the other medical educational info for patients to peruse. If it helps one person, you know how the story goes.
Here's to early detection of those vague and nasty symptoms!
