Starting A6 Clinical Trial next week.

0 Recommendations

I was diagnosed in 11/08 with stage 111C OVCA, has total hyster. and debulking 12/1/08. Finished with chemo of Taxol/Carboplatin in April of 09. Ca 125 levels returned to normal during chemo, began to rise this August. CAT scan a week ago showed some activity in abd. lymph nodes. Will be starting trial of A6 next week. Will inject myself daily with the drug, get weekly blood tests and CAT scan after 2 months to see effect.
Anyone else in this trial or similar with this drug?
Thanks!

I don'tknow what this A6 is but sounds like home injections would be less horrid than going in for infusion. Let us know if you find out,,meanwhile I will google. Good luck!

Please keep us updated on your progress. What you are doing is so very important! Prayers and best of luck to you!

No, but keep us posted. My doctor was part of a study for A6, and had good things to say about it. I didn't realize that it was by self-injection. I like to know that there are good 2nd, 3rd, line therapies out there.

Is the drug a urokinase derived Peptide?

Shamrock, yes, that's the trial. I spent 4 days in dispair, thinking that I would have to go on chemo again, I was resistant to the first chemo (had recurrance @ 5-6 months post chemo) and was wonding what chemo I would be on now, etc. To my surprise, my Dr (at Abington Memorial Hospital right outside Phila) mentioned this trial since I fit the criteria, and I couldn't sign the papers fast enough.
Will keep all posted on how it goes!
Thanks for the good energy!
*fingers crossed*

BarbaraKB,
I see you live in Elkins Park. I traveled through it today to go to nearby FCCC for my CAT Scan.
Youngmom and I are planning a lunch or dinner on 10/3 for those on this message board who live in the SE PA area to meet.
