Site of origin in left ovary

0 Recommendations

It seems interesting that so many of us had the left ovary as the site of our original cancer. Mine was a tumor on my left ovary with cancer in the left fallopian tube, very little ascites but metastasis to the periaortic lymph nodes. I would be interested to know how many others have had the left ovary as the original or only involved ovary. If it is more common, I wonder why?

Left ovary 12 cm, right ovary 6 cm.

Mine also, left ovary. Had a complete hysterectomy Sept. 21 2009. Am now undergoing treatment.

me too. left ovary. stage 1A

scubadvr - If you are ever in Florida for diving, let me know. My husband and I are getting back in the water and doing some diving.

HootyOvO - Yes, they are finding that many OvCa dx does originate in the FT, but not in all cases. It was subject to some study and researchers were amazed at that find. http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/ovarian/disease-source0408

Mine also was on the left side - SO STRANGE !!!

Very interesting!!

Mine was in the left ovary too. Rx stage IV. No information I was given noted any problems with the right ovary.

Mine was in my right ovary. It was 3 times the normal size and I had 3 litres of acsites drained prior to my surgery and another 2 at the time of surgery. Ive had no miscarriages and was post menopausal(2 yrs). I was diagnosed IIIC and had a full hysterectomy, oopherectomy, appendectomy, bowel resection with optimal debulking.

I don't know if there is anything to this or not. I may ask my oncologist next time I have an appt.

I also had a tumor on my left ovary. It ruptured. This is so strange.

Have no idea if it is more common, but that is where mine was. Interesting theory. Like Roxann, I was 1c clear cell with a 10cm mass.

Mine was on the right (11 cm). Spread to the outside of the uterus, then got "stuck" in old endometriosis adhesions.

In 2003, I too had the cancer in the left ovary. However, my right ovary had ruptured in 1970.

Hi,

left ovary, stage IIIc, optimum debulking Memorial Day 2008, found cancer on the omentum, had an intestinal resection (thought for a few days I might have to have a temporary colostomy), had a bit scraped off bladder, a bit scraped off surface of liver. It had spread to other ovary, of course,, and I had horrible ascites. 3-1/2 litres when first diagnosed. I had ascites drained three times, once just days prior to surgery, in order to finish teaching school that year. had had a hysterectomy 1-1/2 years earlier and ovaries were completely healthy then. :-(

I figure you have a 50/50 chance either way. Right now it just seems like it always lands on tails with our small focus group. I don't remember which ovary mine was. Every time they do a U/S they tell me it's mid-line and hard to find, so I figure it's just shy heh.

My daughter also had a border line tumor on her left ovary. Left ovary was removed in 2004 and she was on observation for 4 years every 3 months she would go for ultrasound and was told that she had a cyst on her right ovary but her doctor did not think it was cancerous. On November 5th 2008, She had a hysterectomy, her spleen, appendix and some lymph nodes removed, the tail of her pancreas and some kind of fatty tissue that I guess covers stomach, we have been told all started in her fallopian tubes… After 6 rounds of Taxol ,Carboplatin and Avastin …No she was never in remission… May 20, 2009 she had additional surgery because she had severe abdominal pain and a blockage … they removed all of her small intestine because everything was covered with cancer …now there is still cancer left on her large intestine, plus latest CT is showing more on her liver, bladder and spot on her long.. . I hate to give you all this hirable information, because I know everyone is different and respond differently to treatments …

- dollycat6. My daughter also had 1 miscarriage month or two prior her diagnoses..

I still hope and pray for a miracle for All… this is so unfair!!!

My was on my left ovary also how weird.

Left ovary 9 cm. Right 1.7 cm... I guess it was just getting started. And a focus of cells on my sigmoid colon where the tumor was rubbing against. Stage 3B.

I've got that menopause book. I guess I need to go pull that out and see what she has to say. Never knew my ovaries were so busy being creative :).

Borderline tumor measuring 12 cm by 26 cm on my left ovary. For several years I had been experiencing stress with job, relationships in addition to not sleeping well etc.

I've been trying to cut out the stress, sleep the required 8 hours a night and eat better than I ate before. I also read on this site somewhere about women craving sugary foods while they had tumors/cancer and that sugar somehow feeds the disease. I noticed that would eat a few bites of "real" food, feel full but could eat a cinnamon roll or rolls with no problem. I definitely don't have the cravings but not sure if it was related to the tumor or stress.

I am not sure if this is where to ask this. I like this web site because what I have is so closely related to OV CA. I have Primary Peritoneal Carcinoma III C. How many woman out there reading this have the same diagnosis. PPC starts outside the ovary, but is treated just like ov ca. If you do have this diagnosis I would love to hear from you. God bless you all.
