Remission

0 Recommendations

Had anyone went into remission on second line treatment Doxil/Advastin, when they did'nt reach their goal on 1st line 6 rounds of Carbo/Taxol. The lowest they could get my CA-125 was 1840, which started out at 6550. My doctor recently started me on Advastin/Doxil, but told me I had an average of 3 years. Has anyone ever heard this before. It is almost like he has given up, because I did'nt get into remission the 1st round. I would appreciate any input. Stage 4 Grade 3. Was diagoinsed March 2009.

Shari,

I am so sorry to hear that your doc said that to you. He can not determine your fate and there are women that get into remission on second line treatment. If your disease progressed during first line treatment, it means that your cancer is resistant to initial drugs.

Did you ask him about results when they send your tumors to be tested for chemo sensitivity?

Thre are lots of chemo combos out there that the doctors can try. I've been on quite a few myself.

If you are uncomfortable with your doctor's thinking, then you should consider switching to another, even though it's a nuisance. I'm surprised he told you that and I personally would not accept that as the final answer.
